Telling Their Stories: The Sharing of History in Cemeteries

| Rebecca Lush |
Cemeteries are landscapes of memory, identity, and community storytelling. This presentation will explore how we tell stories in cemeteries and how we share the history of those buried within their walls. I will be focusing on case studies, exploring guided tours, digital interpretation, community partnerships, and exhibitions. Central to this work is a commitment to trauma-informed care: recognizing the emotional weight of these spaces and prioritizing cultural sensitivity. I will be highlighting the importance of sharing such narratives and how they shape our public understanding of history, loss, and community.
